Guilty Plea in Overdose Death
(Barrie, ON) An Innisfil man has pleaded guilty in connection with the 2017 fatal overdose of a man.
On Friday, December 7, 2018, 25-year-old Ryan Walker pleaded guilty in Barrie Court to Criminal Negligence Causing Death and Trafficking in a Controlled Substance.
Walker will be sentenced on January 23, 2019.
A 23-year-old Innisfil man was found dead on April 10, 2017. Toxicology results confirmed he died of an overdose of Fentanyl and Heroin. A subsequent investigation by the South Simcoe Police Service Criminal Investigation Bureau resulted in the arrest of two men. They were initially charged with Trafficking in Fentanyl and Trafficking in Heroin. The investigation continued and on August 30, 2017, both men were charged jointly with Manslaughter.
A 55-year-old Innisfil man remains before the courts on a charge of Manslaughter.
