Fatal Collision Yonge Street Innisfil
(Innisfil, ON) On Thursday, August 29, 2024, at approximately 8:40 p.m., police responded to a serious head-on collision on Yonge Street between 14th Line and Gilford Road.
A black pick-up truck traveling northbound collided with a southbound red sedan. The impact caused extensive damage to both vehicles. A third vehicle was also involved in the collision but received minor damage. The driver of the red sedan was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the black pick-up truck was arrested on scene for impaired operation. The road was closed for several hours while the Traffic Unit conducted the collision investigation.
As a result of the investigation a 35-year-old man from Shelburne has been charged with Impaired Operation Causing Death and Operation While Impaired (blood alcohol concentration). He was held for a bail hearing on August 30, 2024.
