Assault With A Weapon/Possession of Weapon/Carrying Concealed Weapon

(Innisfil, ON) Innisfil man in custody after the South Simcoe Police Service responded to a weapons call and standoff in the Town of Innisfil.

On Thursday, August 22, 2024, at approximately 4:00 p.m., police responded to reports of a man armed with a knife in the area of Lilac Drive and Inglewood Drive. Police attended the area and the accused fled on foot. The man subsequently entered a residence and barricaded himself inside.

Police set up containment of the home. Members of our Emergency Response Unit were on scene along with trained Crisis Negotiators, Simcoe EMS, and Barrie Police. At approximately 8:30 p.m., a Feeney Warrant was executed and the accused was taken into custody shortly after. No one was injured.

As a result of the investigation, a 47-year-old man from Innisfil was charged with:
-Assault with a Weapon x 2
-Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose x 2
-Carrying Concealed Weapon

The accused was held for a bail hearing.
