Licence Plate Renewal
(Bradford/Innisfil, ON) The South Simcoe Police Service is reminding residents that even though licence plate renewal fees have been eliminated, you must still renew your Ontario licence plate.
The plate renewal is now free of charge but your vehicle must still have a valid licence plate and be insured to drive legally in Ontario. The renewal can be done online, at Service Ontario or by mail.
As of March 13, 2022, the province eliminated licence plate stickers for passenger vehicles, light-duty trucks, motorcycles and mopeds. According to the Ministry of Transportation, if you paid renewal fees for your licence plate sticker for an individually-owned vehicle between March 1, 2020 to March 12, 2022, the address on your driver’s licence is correct and you do not owe defaulted fees, fines or tolls, you will receive a refund cheque in the mail starting at the end of March and throughout the month of April. You must continue to renew your licence plate every 1 to 2 years.
