Firearms Investigation Results in 39 Charges
(Innisfil, ON) The South Simcoe Police Service Street Crime Unit has laid 39 charges following an investigation into unauthorized possession of firearms in Innisfil.
The recent investigation culminated on Friday, June 4, 2021, when search warrants were executed at two residences and three vehicles in Alcona.
Police seized 10 guns. All were found to be unlawfully possessed and stored in an unsafe manner. They include:
-a loaded 40 caliber handgun which was under a bedroom pillow
-a submachine gun with an illegally modified magazine
-an assault rifle with a bayonet
-7 other long guns
39 Criminal Code charges were laid:
-Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
-Careless Use/Unsafe Storage of a Firearm
-Possess Prohibited Device
As a result of the investigation, three Innisfil men were charged:
-26-year-old Mason Urquhart
-26-year-old Justin Urquhart
-68-year-old Robert Urquhart
The three accused were released from custody and are to appear in court in August.
