Chief’s Message
On behalf of the members of the South Simcoe Police Service (SSPS), welcome to our website and thank you for visiting. We invite you to browse all areas of the site to learn about our people, our work and our commitment to community safety and well-being. Keep up with occurrences in the “Media Release” section. Learn about our officers and different units in the “About Us” and “Specialized Units” sections or peruse our Annual Report. If you are interested in joining our team, I encourage you to visit the “Join Us” section to see current career opportunities, both civilian and uniform.
I grew up in the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury and have spent my entire policing career serving in the communities of Bradford and Innisfil. I’m living proof that our service is a great place to build a career. With over 160 sworn and civilian members, and more than 20 auxiliary officers, the SSPS is a tight-knit family. Ours is a workplace with a strong emphasis on the physical and mental well-being of its members. Plus, there are opportunities for career growth and development as a member of SSPS; from Dispatch to Frontline, to Investigative Services, Traffic Services, Emergency Response and Community Mobilization and Engagement.
The South Simcoe Police Service celebrates diversity, equity, and inclusion- both within our service and in the community. Being reflective of the people and organizations of Innisfil and Bradford is vital to maintaining the support and trust of our residents. We can’t do it alone and are grateful for the tremendous community support we are privileged to enjoy. We recognize the importance of our partners in making our beautiful Towns safe places to live, work and visit. Enhancing these long-standing relationships and building new ones is key to the success of addressing issues affecting community safety and well-being.
We pride ourselves on professionalism, which includes ongoing training, strong accountability measures and the highest standards.
As Chief of the South Simcoe Police Service, I am honoured to serve our growing communities and am extremely grateful for your support.
John Van Dyke
