The South Simcoe Police Service is reminding motorists that with the beginning of the new school year, officers will be out enforcing traffic safety in area school zones. Traffic & Marine officers, as well as patrol officers, will turn their attention to our most vulnerable citizens over the next few weeks. Officers will be doing radar, watching for distracted driving, enforcing pedestrian rules and educating motorists and pedestrians alike about safety.
Children, excited about returning to school, may not be paying attention. As motorists, it's your job to be extra cautious when travelling through residential areas, especially school zones.
Parents, please walk your kids to school to reduce traffic around school zones. If you must drop them off, please obey lot leaders and all school rules, as well as obeying parking laws.
The South Simcoe Police Service would like to thank our many school crossing guards for the important work they perform. Please look for and obey crossing guards while they protect our children.
