(Bradford, ON) On Saturday, July 8, 2017, just before midnight, South Simcoe Police Service officers were sent to a Bradford home for an assault. Investigators learned that a man and a woman had been arguing. The man's brother in law stepped in to separate the two when he was punched in the face. A 28 year old Bradford man was charged with Assault. He was released to an August court date with conditions to avoid contact with his sister and her husband.
(Bradford, ON) On Friday, July 7, 2017, just before noon, a concerned citizen called police about a possibly impaired driver. Officers from the South Simcoe Police Service responded and located the vehicle on Sideroad 10. After stopping the vehicle, the officer noted the smell of alcohol on the driver's breath. A roadside screening device test was conducted and the man arrested.
After further testing at the station, a 35 year old Bradford man was charged with Impaired Driving and Drive Over 80 mgs. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded. He will appear in court in August.
(Bradford, ON) On Saturday, July 8, 2017, around 1;30 a.m., a concerned citizen called police to report an impaired driver. Officers from the South Simcoe Police Service responded to a Bradford home and investigated. A suspect was identified and a roadside screening device test was conducted.
The driver was arrested and, after further testing at the station, charged with Impaired Driving and Drive Over 80 mgs. His vehicle was impounded and his licence suspended for 90 days. The 41 year old Bradford man will appear in court in August.
In each of these cases, citizens stepped up and called 9-1-1 when they saw an impaired driver. We are thankful to them for caring about their communities. Do your part in making our roads the safest in Canada; if you see a possibly impaired driver, notify police immediately.
Drive Under Suspension
(Bradford, ON) On Friday, July 7, 2017, just after 10:00 p.m., a South Simcoe Police Service Sergeant was patrolling Holland Street West in Bradford. His attention was drawn to a nearby vehicle because of a loud muffler. After a check of the licence plate, the vehicle was stopped. The driver, a 42 year old woman from Elora, was found to be driving under suspension. She was charged with Drive Under Suspension, Improper Muffler, and Fail To Have Insurance Card. She was given an August court date.

(Bradford, ON) On Friday, July 7, 2017, just after 3:00 p.m., a South Simcoe Police Service Traffic Unit constable was operating radar on Yonge Street in Bradford. She stopped a vehicle going 33 km/h over the posted limit of 80 km/h. The driver, a 27 year old Whitby man, was charged with Drive Under Suspension and Speeding. His vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
(Innisfil, ON) Over the weekend, South Simcoe Police Service Marine Unit officers aboard the John Wardrop II patrolled the waterways of Lake Simcoe and the Holland River. On Saturday, July 8, 2017, just before 6:00 p.m., they came across a personal watercraft towing a person on a knee board.
The operator, a 23 year old Innisfil man, was charged with Fail To Keep Watch under the Canada Shipping Act. All boaters are reminded that they must have a spotter on board while towing a person behind their vessel.
On Sunday, July 9, 2017, just before 6:00 p.m., officers stopped a vessel with 11 people on board. While all children had lifejackets, there were insufficient personal floatation devices for the adults.
A 33 year old Toronto man was charged under the Canada Shipping Act with a safety equipment violation. The vehicle was escorted to shore. Necessary equipment must include sufficient life jackets for every person on board.
