(Bradford, ON) On Sunday, June 18, 2017, just before 2:00 a.m., South Simcoe Police Service officers were out front of a downtown Bradford nightclub. A patron, who had been drinking, spoke briefly with one of the officers before walking away.
Moments later, a red van stopped at a nearby traffic light. After stopping, the vehicle proceeded through the red light while spinning its tires, drawing the attention of the officers. The vehicle tried to make a left turn onto John Street but collided with a concrete platform on the corner. As officers gave chase, the vehicle drove off. It was stopped a short distance away and the driver attempted to run away. He was apprehended and turned out to be the patron who had exchanged pleasantries with the officer minutes before.
The 26 year old Bradford man was arrested and taken to the station for testing. He was later released to a July court date, charged with Impaired Driving and Drive Over 80 mgs. His licence has been suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded.
